About E. M. Christensen Christensen
Elizabeth Christensen was born on King Island, but grew up in Hobart. She studied oil painting at Victorian Artists Society with Ming Mackay and old master techniques with Wesley Penberthy, who had been trained by Norman Lindsay. She began painting seriously in 1975. Her first solo exhibition at Joan Gough's Studio Gallery in Punt Rd, Melbourne in 1984. She has been a finalist in Blake Prize, City of Hobart Art Prize and Glover Prize and has won a number of minor art prizes. She is now living and working in Hobart, and painting under the name of Elizabeth Barsham.
