Artist Greg Warburton was born in Sydney in 1952. He studied at Hornsby Technical College in 1974-75 for an Art Diploma Qualifying Course followed by a Diploma of Painting from the Alexander Mackie College. In 1980 he received an Australia Council Grant and studied in New York and Toronto. He has held solo exhibitions in Sydney from 1982. Mainly a portraitist, he has been a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize five times between 1997 to 2007.
