Born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1889, Beatrice Seddon (nee Wood) studied in Christchurch and from 1915 in London at St Johns Wood Art School. She returned to live in Wellington in the early 1920s. Best known as a watercolourist, painting landscape and floral subjects, she was a member of New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts with whom she exhibited from 1921. She also exhibited with the Auckland Society of Arts and the Canterbury Society of Arts.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,933 for Lady with a Parasol sold by International Art Centre in October 2006. This year one work has been offered for sale.
