About John Emmett
John Emmett was born in 1927 at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. He was educated at Kimbolton, Huntingdonshire and Manchester University and and came to Australia in 1948. He was appointed Managing Director of Sherwood Radio Pty.Ltd 1952-1956 and was then employed as an announcer and Station Manager at 2KA Katoomba from 1956-63. In 1964 he designed and built the "Three Explorers Motel" in Katoomba. Around this time he began painting Blue Mountains scenes as a resident of Katoomba from 1956-2000, bush and water scenes, and later scenes of Fiji, New Zealand, England, Scotland and Wales. He moved to Raby Bay, Cleveland, Queensland in July 2000.
We have records of art auction sales by John Emmett from 1975 and in total 79 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 66 (84%) were sold. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022.
