Born in Victoria in 1917, Fred Klix studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. A member of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts and the Australian Guild of Realist artists, he is best known for his paintings of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. During a period as art director for Rigby he published two books on the Flinders Ranges.
We have records of art auction sales by Fred Klix from 1982 and in total 49 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 40 (82%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,380 for Brachina Gorge sold by Small & Whitfield Auctions in August 2020. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
