Born in Wellington in 1950, Colin Wynn is a self taught painter who began painting professionally when in this 20's. In 1972 moved to the small town of Reefton on the west coast to be close to the dramatic coast and mountain country he enjoys painting. He began to paint full-time from 1979. Well known for his landscape and marine paintings, he was official artist for the Royal New Zealand Navy for a number of years. He has travelled extensively to Australia, Asia, Greece, U.K. and the U. S. A. to fulfill commissions.
