Sculptor Ieva Pocius was born in Lithuania in 1923 and arrived in Australia in 1951. She studied at the South Australian School of Art and was awarded a Diploma of Fine Art (Sculpture) in 1962, after which she lectured at the South Australian School of Art from 1964 to 1975. She also attended a bronze casting course at the International Summer Academy in Salzberg in 1975. Working with concrete, timber, bronze, steel and papier mache she has held solo exhibitions since 1975 in Adelaide. Amongst art prizes are the Royal South Australian School of Art prizes in 1963, 1965 and 1967.
