Born in New Zealand in 1900, Unk White is best known for his black-and-white sketches. He contributed to the 'Bulletin' magazine for over 35 years and to many other journals. Widely travelled, he lived in numerous countries and was an official war artist during World War II. He was secretary of the Sydney Black and White Artists Club. White illustrated several of the Rigby series of local history sketchbooks.

We have records of art auction sales by Unk White from 1976 and in total 50 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 31 (62%) were sold. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Unk White are held by the Art Gallery of Western Australia, National Gallery of Australia and a further two major public national galleries (see list below).
