Norman Aisbett was born in 1921 in Western Australia. His career included cartoonist, painter, illustrator, sculptor and journalist. He is known for his paintings of the Exmouth Gulf area in the mid 1950s, having been assigned to visit the area and write a report for his newspaper. He was impressed by the landscape and the surroundings of the Rough Range and the rugged country of the North West and wrote Australia’s wild north is a paradise for painters - but you’ve got to be a pretty tough sort of painter to appreciate it. Norman Aisbett was a joint winner of the Graham Perkin Award (Australian Journalist of the Year) in 1981 for his reports about the rescue of Vietnamese boat people. He was a journalist for more than 40 years.

According to our records which cover the last 50 years, only 3 works by this artist have been sold by auction, of the 9 works offered for sale.
