About Francis Clinton (Frank) Sherrin
Frank Sherrin was born in Brisbane. He had no formal art training but had a long involvement in the Brisbane art scene. He painted in oil and watercolour on weekends, working in his engineering job during the week. He was a trustee of the Queensland Art Gallery until 1959 and president of the Half-Dozen Group in Queensland.
We have records of art auction sales by Frank Sherrin from 1974 and in total 17 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 8 (47%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,670 for Porlock Weir sold by Webb's in March 1994. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2003.
