Born in Adelaide in 1922, Dimmack is a painter and art educator. He attended evening classes at RMIT from 1947 to 1949. He became a lecturer in art at tertiary level at three Victorian teachers colleges from 1949 to 1975 and was the author of several text books realting to the teaching of art. Max Dimmacke was known for his vigorous advocacy of an extension of art education.
