About Vincent Sheldon
Born in Brisbane in 1895, Vincent Sheldon studied in Brisbane and became a commercial artist, painter and etcher an worked as a cartoonist from 1924 to 1926. He visited London in 1929 to learn drypoint at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. After returning to Brisbane he taught printmaking. He was elected a member of the Australian Painter-Etchers' Society, and exhibited in Brisbane during the 1930s. He died in 1945 and a memorial exhibition of his work was held in Brisbane in 1948.
Since 1970 we have recorded only one work being sold at auction by this artist, which was in 1987.
