A Victorian artist, Geoff Todd was born in Chelsea, Melbourne 1950. He obtained diplomas in art from what are now Monash University and LaTrobe University in Melbourne and became a painter, sculptor and teacher. In the 1970s and 80s he worked as a secondary art teacher in schools around Melbourne until 1984 when he left for the Northern Territory. In a remote Aboriginal settlement he worked as a craft advisor for three years and then lectured at tertiary level near Darwin. Todd has exhibited in Darwin, Melbourne and Sydney since 1973, in the USA in 1979 and in the UK in 1986. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Australia Day Honours in 2019.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,440 for Untitled 1996 sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in February 2011.
