A late colonial painter, illuminator and illustrator working c1870-1901, Charles Turner contributed drawings to the Australian Graphic , e.g. The Springs, Mount Wellington, Tasmania’, 23 February 1884. He illustrated Garnet Walsh’s Victoria in 1880publishe din 1880 with many text engravings and 11 full-page engravings, many of the Melbourne International Exhibition. He exhibited at the Victorian Academy of Arts between 1870 and 1882 and at the Art Society of NSW.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,750 for On the Esk River, The Gorge, Launceston, Tasmania sold by Leonard Joel in November 1983.
