About James Beament
James Beament was a Melbourne signwriter and amateur artist working in oils and watercolour between 1900 and 1936. According to the Australian Dictionary of Biography Ernest Buckmaster was apprenticed to Beament in 1913, who encouraged him to join the Victorian Artists Society and to enrol at the National Gallery Art School. James Beament exhibited with the Victorian Artists Society between 1900 and 1935, showing over 120 paintings during that period. He died circa 1933.
