Born in Lismore, New South Wales in 1934, Brian Blanchard studied at the Julian Ashton School with Henry Gibbons, later becoming his assistant, and under Graeme Inson. He later taught at the Julian Ashton School for 29 years and in his own studio for 20 years. A realist painter he has exhibited widely. His work is represented in several provincial collections.
