Born in Auckland in 1937, Greer Twiss graduated with honours from Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland University in 1959. In 1965 he was awarded a grant that enabled him to study and work in Britain and Europe. A sculptor who works in various metals including bronze lead and fibreglass, he has maintained a prominent sculpture practice, receiving commissions for sculptures in public areas in Auckland, and for the Sculpture Park at the Seoul Olympics.
The total number of works by Greer Twiss offered for sale by auction since 1991 is 140, of which 98 (70%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $44,417 for Edible History sold by Art+Object in June 2015. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Greer Twiss are held by the Auckland Art Gallery, Museum Of New Zealand and Christchurch Art Gallery.
