About Anne Smith
Anne Smith was born in the UK and came to Australia in 1971. She commenced her studies in 1968 in the UK in Industrial Science, before studying Fine Art at Sunderland College of Art and Design in the UK, and continued in Australia, studying and collaborating with artists such as Dan Welden, Jorg Schmiesser, Garry Shead and Wendy Sharpe. Although well known for her colourful and intricate etchings, she has also worked in ceramics and oils. Anne’s work has appeared in many solo and selective exhibitions throughout Australia since 1975, including the Blake Prize Exhibition in 2001 and the Portia Geach Memorial Award in 2002. In 1987 she opened Falls Gallery at Wentworh Falls in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, where she currently lives and works.
