South Australian artist Hugo Shaw was born in Adelaide in 1937. He studied at the South Australian School of Arts and the Byam Shaw Art School in London in the 1960s. On his return he worked as an art teacher at St Peter’s College Adelaide for 23 years before retiring to paint oil and watercolour landscapes and seascapes full time in 1987. He has exhibited in Adelaide and regional centres in the state.

The total number of works by Hugo Shaw offered for sale by auction since 2003 is 23, of which 13 (57%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $7,540 for Blanche Point, Maslins Beach sold by Elder Fine Art in December 2022.
