Born in Auckland in 1908, Peggy Spicer trained at the Elam School of Fine Arts. Spicer was a watercolourist, painting landscapes and life in small towns of New Zealand. She travelled with her mother, artist Ella Spicer, to England and Egypt, and held a two-artist exhibition with her in Cairo. She also exhibited in New Zealand with the Auckland Society of Arts, the Canterbury Society of Arts, the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and other artist's groups.
