Born in England in 1887, Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Webb studied at St Martins School of Art, London and emigrated to Australia in 1915, settling in Perth. A watercolourist and graphic artist, he produced many advertsing posters, and was a teacher at Perth Technical College in the 1920s in 1937 opened the A. B. Webb School of Art where he taught until his death.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $14,697 for 'Evening by the River' sold by Bonhams in December 2013.
