Born in Melbourne in 1937, Robert Rooney studied at Swinburne College of Technology, Melbourne from 1954 to 1957, then at Preston Institute of Technology between 1972 and 1973. A painter, writer, art critic and photographer, he has exhibited widely since 1960 in most eastern Australian capital cities and in the UK. He was the subject of an article by Robert Lindsay in 'Art in Australia' vol.14 no.1 1976.
