Born in 1894, Betty Paterson was a neice of John Ford Paterson and sister of Esther Paterson. She studied at the National Gallery School in Melbourne and was known as a child portraitist, illustrator and cartoonist as well as a singer. Her portraits are represented in overseas collections such as that of the British Royal Family and the Roosevelts. She also donated paintings for fundraising for health and welfare associations.
