Born in Sydney in 1942, John Martin studied at the National Art School in 1960-61 and in Europe. An abstract artist, teacher and printmaker, from 1972 he has lived between Australia, UK and Germany and has held more than 30 solo exhibitions throughout Australia. As a teacher, he has lectured at the Newcastle College of Advanced Education, the City Art Institute and the Universities of New South Wales and Newcastle between 1974 and 2001.
