Thomas Shekleton Henry was born on 8 November 1865 in Kingstown District, Dublin, Ireland, He was born Thomas Henry but changed his name to Thomas Shekleton Henry by deed poll in England in 1919. However, he commonly used the name Thomas Shekleton Henry during the years he resided in Australia. In 1887 he qualified as an architect and was approved as an Associate of the Royal Institution of British Architects on 9 April 1888. By 1890 Henry was residing in Australia. In 1894 he was advertsising as an architect and artist from Lincoln Inn's Chambers, Elizabeth Street, Sydney, NSW. By 1903, Henry was residing in Melbourne, again listed as an architect. He returned to England in 1914 and does not appear to have returned to Australia after that time. His paintings were mostly in watercolour, and those exhibited with the Art Society of New South Wales in 1894 were landscapes. Work dated around 1920 appeared to be more oriented towards bush genre.
