About Irene Wellm
Bornin 1964, Irene Wellm completed a Master of Fine Art from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2001 she. She has had numerous solo and group shows throughout Melbourne, Sydney, Western Australia and in the U.K., South Korea and at the Delhi Art Fair in 2012. A recipient of a number of fellowships and awards, Irene has also been a finalist in recent years in a number of art prizes including Darebin La Trobe Aquisitive Art Prize 2001 and the Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship Exhibition. In 2000 she was one of three Australian artists represented for the UBS Art Award 2000, at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. She was based in Leipzig, Germany for six months, from 1st October 2012 to 31st March 2013 on a residency funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Australian Government.
