Born in Victoria in 1937, Murray Walker studied in Victoria, Italy and London. A painter, printmaker, tapestry maker, teacher and writer, he became advisor and research consultant to a number of government institutions, such as the National Gallery of Victoria and the Victorian Ministry for Conservation. He has exhibited in most Australian states, and his work is represented in many Australian institutional and public collections, as well as in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, USA.
