Born in Kyneton, Victoria in 1894, Margaret Pestell is a watercolourist, known mainly for her landscapes and still lifes. She studied in Melbourne at the National Gallery of Victoria School and under Walter Withers, and later in Sydney under Will Ashton, and then lived and worked in England. When she returned she was associated with the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, with whom she regularly exhibited.
