Born in Queensland in 1952, Joe Furlonger studied at the Queensland College of Art and at the Alexander Mackie College in Sydney. He later worked as a labourer and as a deck hand on fishing boats to obtain background for his painting. An expressionist figurative genre painter in oils, Furlonger has exhibited in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
