Marie Jonsson was born in Sweden and migrated to Adelaide, South Australia with her family in 1972, After a career as a model she took up painting and has created a successful career as a contemporary naïve artist, printmaker and sculptor. She has exhibited in solo and joint shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and overseas in Canada, USA, Poland and Denmark. She was invited to participate in the Henri Rousseau exhibition in Normandy, France to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. As well she has won numerous prizes at art shows. She lives and works at Hallett Cove, a coastal suburb of Adelaide.
