Born in Germany in 1897, Elise Blumann studied in Berlin and taught there before arriving in Perth in 1938. She helped form The Art Group in Perth to try to stimulate local interest in modern art. She travelled throughout Northern and Central Australia and back to Europe before returning to Perth in 1973.
