About Alexander (Alex) Seton
Alex Seton was born in Sydney in 1977 and was awarded Bachelor of Art Theory and History from the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales in 1998. He is a sculptor working in varied media including bronze, stone, marble, steel, plastic and ceramics. His first solo exhibition was in Sydney in 2004 and since then he has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney Brisbane and Canberra, and in major regional centres in Queensland and New South Wales. He has also exhibited in Singapore and Paris. Between 1998 and 2020 he has participated in over 100 solo exhibitions. In 2000 he was the Artist In Residence, Mosman Art Gallery, Sydney. He has received a number of commissions for works in public places including the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, St Ignatius’ College Riverview, Sydney and the Mater Mother’s Hospital, Brisbane. In a career of over 20 years he has won or been a finalist in numerous art shows including Sculpture by the Sea, Sydney, the Art Gallery of New South Wales Wynne Art Prize and the McClelland Sculpture Survey and Award.
