Born in Melbourne in 1947, Richard Weatherly studied in England with wildlife artists and was a foundation president of the Wildlife Art Society of Australia. A realist painter in gouache, watercolour, pencil and pen, and a sculptor, he is a member of the Victorian Artists Society and has exhibited his work since 1970. Publications include 'Each Man's Wilderness and 'The Fairy Wrens' for which he received the Royal Zoological Society of NSW 1982 award for best limited edition.
