Born in 1825 in England, Margaret Scott (nee Kittle) arrived in South Australia in 1853. She was an amateur painter of wildflowers until her husband died in 1891, when she turned professional. Scott became well known as a floral miniaturist in London where her work came to the notice of the Glasgow Gallery and the Royal Family through her patroness Viscountess Kintore. Her work is represented in major galleries in the United Kingdom.
