Born in Sydney in 1941, Ron Robertson-Swann studied in Sydney and London, and worked as Henry Moore's assistant from 1965 until his return to Australia in 1968. A sculptor, painter and teacher, his most controversial work was the large, bright yellow steel sculpture, 'Vault' placed in Melbourne's City Square, and later moved to a site near the Yarra River. Robertson-Swann has held lecturing appointments in London and Sydney and has won several awards.
