Born in the United Kingdom in 1939, John Walker studied in the UK, Paris and Rome before his arrival in Melbourne in 1979 where he became Artist in Residence at the Prahran College of Advanced Education for six months. A modern painter, mostly in oil, Walker has exhibited widely. His work is represented in the national and state galleries in Australia, and in major public galleries overseas, such as the Tate in London and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
