Born in Yugoslavia in 1948, Metka Skrobar arrived in Australia in 1957. She trained as a teacher in Victoria and later studied art in Queensland, the United Kingdom and in Slovenia in 1996 and 2000 where she studied under master watercolourist France Slana. She started painting professionally in 1982, and works in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media, in a neo-impressionist style. She has exhibited annually in Australia since 1988 frequently travels to Europe, and has held solo exhibitions in Slovenia, Italy and Austria. Skrobar is a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society and has exhibited in Queensland since 1988.
