Born in the USSR in 1945, Victor Majzner lived in Poland and France before his arrival in Australia in 1959. A painter, printmaker and teacher in Melbourne, he has exhibited since 1971 and has held over 50 solo exhibitions. He retired as Head of Painting at Victoria College of the Arts in 2000 after 27 years and has since devoted himself wholly to his own painting. He is known for his monumental canvases on which he modifies colour with soft and varied textures.
The earliest auction listing we have for Victor Majzner is in 1983 and in total 167 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 100 (60%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $11,500 for Tourist sold by Christies in May 2000. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022.
