Born in England in 1938, John Wolseley studied painting in London and printmaking in Paris. He travelled extensively in Europe before his arrival in Australia in 1976. He travelled to the outback frequently, painting his observations of animal, plant, mineral and historical aspects of the bush, exhibiting his work in Melbourne and Sydney. Wolseley has taught at tertiary institutions and also at various Northern Territory Aboriginal communities.
