John Lloyd-West was born in Wollongong, NSW in 1948. He obtained a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Griffith University, Brisbane in 1967 and a Bachelor of Education, Griffith University, Brisbane in 2000. Following graduation he was employed as an art teacher in a secondary school in Brisbane, and then at the TAFE on the Gold Coast, Queensland. He spent 2 years overseas in 1971/72 studying art in London and Europe, and exhibited in London during that time. He is influenced by Cubism, Surrealism & Pop Art. An oil painting from his first exhibition in Sydney sold to National Collection, Canberra. He has had solo exhibitions in Sydney & Melbourne.
