Born in Queensland in 1882, Lahey studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, and in Europe where she exhibited widely, including at the Paris Salon. In 1931 she was appointed to the Art Advisory Committee of the Art Gallery of Queensland and is a life member of the Royal Queensland Art Society. She was awarded the MBE in 1958 for her services to art.
