International Art Centre presents their final sale for 2023 bringing to market a diverse range of contemporary collectable works. The December sale auction features two distinct collections of contemporary art and embraces all fields, tastes and artistic endeavours.

International Art Centre presents their final sale for 2023 on 12 December 2023 featuring two distinct collections of contemporary art and embraces all fields, tastes and artistic endeavours. The first fifty lots form part of a single vendor collection, encompassing a selection of Australian and New Zealand artists The second collection offers an outstanding selection of mid-century British prints featuring works by Dame Barbara Hepworth, Three Forms, from Opposing Forms 1969 (above), Sir Terry Frost, Sir Howard Hodgkin, and other leading British artists.

The first fifty lots form part of a single vendor collection from the capital city, Wellington. Encompassing a selection of Australian and New Zealand artists including the vibrant painted constructions of Rohan Wealleans, Star of Darkness (Lot 23 ) & minimalist textile works by Rose Nolan, Hard, But Fair (Lot 7 ). The breadth and variety of the works on offer illustrate the dedication of single owner collections.

The second collection offers an outstanding selection of mid-century British prints featuring works by Dame Barbara Hepworth, Three Forms, from Opposing Forms 1969 (Lot 63 ), Sir Terry Frost, Spirals (Lot 56 ), Sir Howard Hodgkin, Artist and Model (in green and yellow) (Lot 69 ) and other leading British artists. Of note in the collection is a selection of five exquisite Patrick Caulfield limited edition prints (lots 50 – 55). Caulfield’s subjects were reduced to their essential components using a restricted palette of bold colours. The subject of each print is a single white ceramic pot set against a dark background. Caulfield explained that the inspiration for this series came from the Victoria & Albert Museum, in particular its published catalogues of oriental ceramics.

 Also included in the auction is rare Elisabeth Frink colour lithograph, Resting Horse, 1981 (Lot 100 ). Known for her preoccupation with naturalistic forms and subject matter, Frink captures the spirit of the animal depicted without over statement. The combination of form, colour and the accessible nature of these contemporary collections offers astute collectors the opportunity to acquire a wide variety works.

The online sale takes place on Tuesday 12 December with lots closing from 6pm in ten second intervals.
