It is now official: the much-publicised sale of art by Lord Jeffrey Archer will contain at least two major Australian works. Ronan Sulich of Christies Australia confirmed from London this morning that two Australian works by Arthur Boyd and Sidney Nolan have been added to the Jeffrey Archer sale held on 28th June 2011 at Christies South Kensington, London.

A Shoalhaven Series work by Arthur Boyd which was sold by Deutscher + Hackett in May 2007 for $150,000 hammer.

Some 150 works of art from Lord Archer's collection are expected to raise over £ 5 million.

According to a Herald Sun report from 26 April 2008, Jeffrey Archer purchased a painting from Arthur Boyd's Shoalhaven River series for $ 225,000, apparently after spending a total of $ 250,000 on Australian art during his 2008 trip. Archer said at the time that he had a particular fondness for Australian art, which he buys largely through Brisbane-based art dealer Philip Bacon.

So it looks as if two more Australian paintings are set to make their way back to the Antipodes.
