Born in Invercargill, New Zealand in 1949, Nigel Brown is a painter, printmaker and designer of stained glass windows. He was taught art by Maori artist Fred Graham, before studying at the Elam School of Fine Arts from 1968 to 1971. Brown's work often contains social and political messages.
