Born in Scotland in 1941, Clark Esplin arrived in New Zealand in 1954. A painter working in watercolour, oil and acrylic, he exhibited with the Canterbury Society of Arts and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts from 1968 and at commercial galleries throughout New Zealand.

We have records of art auction sales by Clarke Esplin from 1994 and in total 70 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 53 (76%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,484 for Fishermans Market, San Remo, Italian Riviera sold by Watson's Auctioneers in April 2009. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
