Born in New Zealand in 1904, Edith Wall studied in Christchurch, Rome and London. She and her husband, Oscar Bayne, arrived in Australia in 1939. Wall exhibited watercolours and drawings regularly, and also worked as a cartoonist for Ure Smith publications. From 1956 to 1970 she was an art teacher, illustrator and publicist. She won several prizes for her work and was a member of the New South Wales Contemporary Art Society and the Melbourne Contemporary Artists.
