Kathleen Letitia O'Connor was born in Hokitika, New Zealand on 14 September 1876. ln 1891 she accompanied her parents to Perth where she first studied art under J. W. R. Linton. She left for London in 1905 and for a short time, before leaving for Paris, where she studied painting at Herkomer's School at Bushey, Hertfordshire, Great Britain, established in 1883 to teach composition, landscape and portraiture. Kathleen O'Connor was a frequent exhibitor in France, Great Britain and in Australia on the occasion of her return visits in 1909, 1927 and 1948 when she stayed for two and a half years. In 1955 Kathleen O'Connor returned to live permanently in Perth.
