Born in Melbourne in 1934, Barry Humphries is an artist, satirist and entertainer, but is best known for his creation of such characters as Dame Edna Everage and Barry McKenzie. However, he once considered becoming a professional painter. An exhibition of his work in July 1968 in Melbourne included a satire on Australian prime ministers, 'Ten Little Australians'.
