Born in Perth in 1957 John Cullinane studied Drawing at Perth Technical College in 1973 and 1980 and was awarded a Diploma of Art from Claremont School of Art in 1996. A figurative realist painter he has exhibited in Perth from 1992, most recently in solo exhibitions at the Turner Galleries regularly from 2007. His work has been included in public exhibitions such as the Art Gallery of western Australia's Figuration in 1996 and the Bankwest Contemporary Art Prize in 2005. In 1998 he was awarded the Albany Art Prize.
