Born in England in 1944, John Horner arrived in New Zealand in 1952. He graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in 1965 with honours in painting and then taught secondary school art until the early 1980’s. John Horner was a senior lecturer at Whitecliffe College of Art and Design until 2013 after which he retired to concentrate on painting.
